Pioneer DEH-P6800MP
$260.00
Released June, 2006
The Pros:Can handle MP3 and MP4 CDs--most units only handle MP3 or MP3 and WMA. Preset and adjustable EQ settings--many only offer presets. Good amount of features for the price point.
The Cons:The backlight on the buttons is blindingly bright at night and can't be adjusted. IPod control is somewhat awkward--scrolling through artists takes a long time and idling for too long automatically brings you back to the song now playing. Screen is too glossy, often gets drowned out by glare.
The Pioneer DEH-P6800MP is a discontinued A/V head unit designed for accessing CDs with MP3, WMA and AAC music files. Although not compatible with DRM-protected music, the unit can nonetheless access burned CD-R and CD-RW discs, as well as track album information with ID3 tags and AAC/WMA text.

Included is a 7-way rotary commander control that functions like a “music joystick,” and a separate card remote for quickly changing songs while driving through traffic. Key to the Pioneer DEH-P6800MP is its connectivity options, which include iPod (adapter required), Satellite Radio (tuner required), and an auxiliary input for hooking up a portable digital audio player. Also included is a “cool blue” OEL display that supports screensavers.
