The Panasonic CQ-C500U is an in-dash multi-format CD player that supports AAC, MP3, WMA, and CD-R/RW playback and is a step up from Panasonic's CQ-C300U. The unit features a variable 7-color display with open face CD access and a removable faceplate for security compared to the black and white display of the CQ-C300U.

It provides a total 72 watts of RMS power handling with a MOS-FET output stage and an additional Re-Master function which the CQ-C300U lacks. The CQ-C500U is compatible with iPod, Satellite Radio, and an optional expansion module for connecting a phone or other digital device to the receiver. It also includes an integrated AM/FM tuner, CD changer control, and displays 2-lines of CD text or ID3 tags. The receiver comes with a wireless remote control and a 1 year limited warranty.
