Panasonic CQ-C1305U
$257.00
Released January, 2008
The Pros:One-knob design is logical and easy to use - allows users to control volume and menu settings within a single housing for convenience. Excellent overall audio quality at the price point - CD, radio and auxiliary input sound is clear, balanced and well-definied throughout frequency range. Stock audio handling is more than suitable - users with pre-amp/subwoofer units are not likely to exceed the 25% level for all playback needs.
The Cons:AM radio reception is relatively weak - local stations are seemingly prone to intermittence with a substantial decrease in quality as compared to FM tuning. Auxiliary input volume level is surprisingly low - many users report having to excess the 25% level to hear any audio whatsoever. Blue LED status light may cause distraction/annoyance amongst certain users - component is fairly bright compared to similar in-dash units from Sony and JVC.
