The device itself looks nearly identical to the lower end KDC-X693; but the X993 features built-in Bluetooth functionality and options. The KDC-X993 includes features such as a flip (removable) theft deterrent faceplate, favorite song memory feature, included remote control, 2 year warranty, and multi-feature ready support.

The Kenwood KDC-X993 also includes additional features such as HD, and Satellite radio ready support, iPod ready support for older iPods with unique adapter, a 24 bit digital to analog converter, full ID-3 tag display support, a 3 band parametric equalizer, AAC, WMA, and MP3 audio file format support, and a rear USB port that supports thumb drives as well as portable media players. The KDC X993 also features full Bluetooth support; and can be paired with up to 5 different bluetooth enabled cell phones.
