Product Shot 1 The Pros:Display is bright enough to be clearly visible in direct sunlight. Bluetooth hands-free calling is solid, calls can be made from the phone itself, volume is good on both ends. Bluetooth media streaming is very easy, automatically detects media and makes it available for playback without any extra work.

The Cons:Changing EQ settings is hidden under 3 layers of menus and at least 10 key strokes. Full sized remote, large easy to find buttons. Volume adjustment is overly sensitive, hard to get it right while driving.

The JVC KD-AVX40 is an in-dash CD/DVD/USB car-multimedia receiver outfitted with a 3.5” widescreen touch panel display and a proximity sensor. The first of two KD-AVX models, the JVC KD-AVX40 sports a DVD/CD player that supports WAV/MP3/WMA audio files, DivX/MPEG1/MPEG2 video files, and JPEG picture files.

Plus, the KD-AVX40 is HD Radio Ready, Satellite Radio Ready, and Bluetooth compatible, and in fact comes equipped with a USB Bluetooth adapter (receiver, transmitter, antenna) and a high-quality external wired microphone for hands-free phone calling and wireless audio streaming. In addition, the KD-AVX40 boasts a Digital Output Terminal, a standard AM/FM tuner, a built-in MOSFET amplifier with a 200w max power output, a 7-band iEQ, and a wireless remote. The JVC KW-AVX40 retails for $509.95 and comes with a 1 year limited warranty. Additional service plans are available for a fee.
