Jensen VM9512HD
$470.00
Released January, 2006
The Pros:Overall performance is excellent considering the sub $500 price point - unit durable, reliable and incorporates many handy features. Wide variety of connectivity options is a major selling point - USB, SD Card, Bluetooth and multiple disc options cover virtually all modern media formats. Bluetooth calling support is exceptional - screen-based contact list navigation and dialling capabilities provide both convenience and safety.
The Cons:Fairly difficult to install due to abundance of rear wires - many users will be forced to seek professional assistance, despite sufficient instruction manual. Not compatible with Sirius satellite radio service despite HD radio capabilities - manufacturer has ceased production of compatible adapters, frustrating many customers.
The Jensen VM9512HD is an entry-level, 7” touchscreen A/V head unit outfitted with HD technology. At its core is a CD/DVD player that handles both audio and video files. But that’s just the beginning, as the unit also handles USB thumb drives, SD cards (up to 8GB), Bluetooth (HFP/A2DP), XM Radio, GPS Units, and of course, iPods.

Included also with the device is a high-powered MOSFET amplifier; for audiophiles, front, rear, and center, and subwoofer RCA line outputs are available for connection to an external sound-system. And for entertainment-fanatics, the VM9512HD also hosts two A/V outputs for attaching additional screens—perfect for furnishing one’s automobile with a thoroughbred entertainment system.
