Jensen VM9223
$350.00
Released April, 2009
The Pros:Auxiliary input supports Apple iDevices and other 1/8" portable media players - major selling point for users seeking reliable music playback. Suitable double-DIN option for users seeking a touchscreen interface - affordable price and bright, responsive display are appealing. Motorized components work surprisingly well - unit automatically extends and retracts with little to no difficulty for true convenience.
The Cons:Optional components like Bluetooth and GPS cost hundreds of dollars - puts unit at a severe disadvantage compared to similarly-priced models from Sony and Clarion. USB port is not compatible with Apple iDevices or other portable media players - may limit external connectivity options if main auxiliary input is in use. Lack of brightness adjustability may cause annoyance amongst users at night - unit can become very distracting and potentially dangerous for road safety.
The Jensen VM9223 is an in-dash head unit from Jensen's Mobile Multimedia lineup. The unit differs from the VM9213 since it requires double DIN mounting and features a 7" full color touch screen display with a motorized swing-down face and blue LED lighting.
