Boss BV9992

$499.00 Released December, 2009

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Installation is made fairly simple, most people handy with wiring can handle it. Display is sharp and clear, everything looks great. Looks impressive with lots of flashy details.

The Cons:Reading a disc is a very slow process, takes a long time to start playing. If the road is bumpy at all it can't read a disc most of the time. Touchscreen is slow to respond, lots of lag.

The Boss BV9992 is a high end car audio and video receiver. This is identical to the Boss BV9996B, but lacks Bluetooth and hands-free calling. While it is functionally similar to the Boss BV9994I, this does not have full iPod integration and the panel layout is more elaborate on the BV9992.

Controls can be done through the motorized, flip-out 7 inch touchscreen or the fully detachable front panel with illuminated buttons. The display works in 1400x234 resolution and retracts when not in use. The front panel has a dancing multi-display that reacts to the audio being played.

Input can be accepted from iPods and other MP3 players. It can play CDs and DVDs, or play WMA, MP4 and MP3 files via USB or SD Memory Card ports. Outputs include front and rear RCA outputs and a subwoofer output. Total output power is split between four 85 watt channels. There is also an input for a rear view camera, and a wireless remote control.
